Valuation Process

BUSINESS VALUATION PROCESS

We have a well-defined business valuation process that considers a variety of income, market and asset approaches to identify the methodologies that best suit your business and valuation purpose.

Bizplans Calculation of Value, Limited Appraisals Reports and Comprehensive Appraisal Reports are independent, objective and supported with expert opinion.

Step 1: Preliminary Steps – Discuss the project with customer to ensure a complete understanding of the objectives and purpose of the valuation engagement.

Step 2: Data Gathering – Completing the business valuation questionnaire. The questionnaire will cover topics including:

  • Your identity
  • Nature of business
  • Income statement and balance sheet adjustments
  • Compensation to the owners

Step 3: Research and Analysis – Review and analysis of company documents, financial statements, operational information, intangibles, risk factors and other data. Bizplans researches relevant economic and industry factors. Private comparable industry transactions are also considered.

Step 4: Valuation Preparation and Methodologies – Our business valuation experts will adjust your financial statements to capture the true economic value of your business. Typically we value the company selecting a combination of valuation methods that are best suited to your business activity. This enhances credibility and supports business valuation conclusions. The assumptions and results are tested for validity.

Step 5: Management Review – The final draft of the business valuation report is reviewed with the client and any other advisers involved ensuring a thorough understanding of its conclusions, confirming accuracy and enabling the report to be fully utilised for the intended purpose. If required we will revise the report before we issue the final business valuation.
